Hide Storage in the Bathroom

Have you ever noticed the bathroom is the one room you have the most to store and the least amount of storage areas? Creative ways to hide storage is important in the bathroom where large and small items need a ‘home’.  Whether you have a lot of storage under your sink that is being underutilized or you only have a pedestal sink, there are creative ways to store items. Look at these solutions and see which of them fit your bathroom needs the best.

What storage do you currently have: Every bathroom has its own set of storage challenges.  Pedestal sink vanities need storage in an adjacent cabinet, closet or adjacent shelving. Bathrooms that have cabinetry below the sink still may have a cluttered mess below. Consider using organizational shelving below vanities to take full advantage of height. Height can make your vanity cabinetry usable again. Assess your current needs and then adapt.

Open shelving: Children’s bathrooms are ideal for open shelving under bathroom sinks. Use the shelving for baskets, towels, bath toys etc… hide storage in tubs or personalized bins for kids. For adult bathrooms open shelving can house toiletries, bathroom scale, and personal bathroom items without being on display. Open shelving can use jute and seagrass trays to hold makeup, and small articles that regularly go in drawers.

Extended cabinetry: If you have the space, consider extending your cabinetry to the ceiling for storage. Cabinetry can take on a spa-like aesthetic with open areas in the cabinetry for décor and display. Many do it yourself home improvement stores have cabinetry kits to make bathroom storage easy and affordable. For a custom look, hire a carpenter or wood artisan to customize cabinetry for your bathroom and vanity area.
Hooks: Although hooks are not hidden, they provide storage that doesn’t look like traditional storage. Use hooks for hanging towels and robes. Little kids love being able to reach towels and being independent.  Use hooks adjacent to the bathtub for wet shower mats and damp clothes that need to air dry.

Linen closets : Depending on where you live linen closets are those that are inside or adjacent to the bathroom made to house linens.  Use these closets to also store bulky items like hairdryers, and cleaning supplies. For a decorative touch add glass doors to linen closets for display and storage.
Fabric: Especially at more traditional porcelain sinks, use fabric skirts to hide storage below. Matching fabric can be used for window treatments, and shower valances to pull together the bathroom elements. Use coordinating paint color to make your bathroom hide storage but seamlessly add visual interest to your space.

Bathroom storage doesn’t have to be clunky and displayed out on the countertop. Hidden storage coupled with simple décor ideas makes you enjoy your space more and in turn will allow you to store more. If you need storage ideas look through your favorite home and gardens magazine for inspiration! They do a great job of showing options that you would have never thought of!

Creating Your Master Bedroom with an Eye-Catching Focal Point over Your Bed

The master bedroom always has been associated with being the one place in your home that is uniquely yours. Whether you enjoy a dramatic, romantic, or modern aesthetic, how you address your master bed wall with becomes the focal point of your room. The master bed is always going to be the star of the bedroom and enhancing the wall with an eye catching focal point will make your bed feel great. Here are tips to draw all the attention to your master bed wall, as soon as you enter the room.

Bold and glamorous : If you want a jaw dropping aesthetic in your bedroom, opt for dramatic canopies, ceiling applications, high headboards and tufted wall applications. You can be bold with bright colors, large patterns, or just large scaled attention grabbers. If you have height in your master bedroom, play it up with an eye catching focal point fabric that extends to the ceiling!

Make the bed steal the show : Depending on your decorative style, your bed can take a back seat to the wall or vice versa. If you would prefer for your bed to steal the show, opt for subtle artwork, neutral toned collections and wall art that will blend subtly but still add texture and patterns.  Artwork doesn’t have to be bold and dramatic, and leaving the area bare looks unfinished and bland. Opt for pieces that will draw colors from surrounding walls and will not compete with your bed and bedding.

The master bed wall can say everything :  In many homes, architectural features such as niches, built in shelving or alternate materials like wood or metal can draw attention instantly. The focal point of the room becomes a dramatic play of mixing finishes with function. Master bedrooms that have this aesthetic don’t usually need artwork, as the wall becomes all of the visual focal point needed. For a more subtle approach with brick or textured walls, consider painting the wall a subtle shade of white, gray or tan colors to soften the wall.

Bring in the light : Have you ever noticed the impact of a great looking window can create an instant focal point over your master bed?  Letting in natural light, or even an artificial light source can add instant appeal over your bed. If the morning sun bothers you, try using black out window treatments, but once you get up, let in the sunshine! Consider a modern chandelier, or pendant light over the bed for a unique lighting idea.

Create the ambiance you always wanted in your master bedroom with an eye-catching focal point over your bed. From simple artwork to extravagant and dramatic architectural features, there are boundless opportunities.  Flip through your favorite interior designer magazines or search the internet through design blogs to see what the latest trends are for master bedrooms. If you prefer simple, opt for a great sunburst mirror – they are very popular right now!

Great Interior Design A Bookcase for A Creative Living Room

Books bring a very special feeling to a place and if you think about it, they also offer nobility. We are major book fans here and up to now, we tried to find interesting storage places for them. Recently we’ve ran across yet another great design for a bookcase. It is a design that brakes the usual pattern of books on horizontal shelves and brings something new to the table. It is also very aesthetic and practical. You could use each shelf for a particular letter of the alphabet in order to find the books a lot easier. For a residence that has a lot of living space, a whole room could be used in this manner. We imagine it would be a great place for reading and relaxation. What do you think?
